Diagnostics and Imaging
Everyone wants what is best for their pet. There is no reason high-quality pet care has to be inconvenient and expensive. The full laboratory available at Fountain Valley Animal Hospital, including CBC, chemistry analyzer, and urinalysis analyzer, offers our clients both convenience and flexibility. Many routine tests and screenings can be completed the same day we see your pet, saving the expense and delay of off-site lab work and multiple appointments. Processing lab work in-house is especially critical during an emergency, when there may not be time to wait for off-site lab work to be completed. When lab work cannot be completed during your appointment, our doctors contact you personally and promptly so you spend less time worrying. We also provide many different tests for animals on long-term medications, including drug level monitoring and NSAID panels.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if your pet could tell you where it hurts? Unfortunately they can't and you are left to guess as to the cause of a mysterious limp or a pet that just isn't acting normal. Often an illness is tied to a seemingly unrelated cause and nothing can help to get to the bottom of an illness faster than access to an x-ray system. That's why it's important to make sure that the vet hospital you choose for your pet is equipped with on-site x-ray facilities to get answers fast, often in a single hospital visit. Here at Fountain Valley, we have the latest digital radiography technology, which provides us with fast, clear images we can go over with you right in the exam room. (For certain cases, ultrasonography is the imaging mode of choice. We send our patients to Powers Pet which does an excellent job. Their services include abdominal and thoracic ultrasounds, echocardiographs, pregnancy checks, and ultra-sound guided biopsy procedures.)
Dr. Devin is certified to perform PennHIP radiograph evaluation. PennHIP, developed by the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, is an early-detection program for hip dysplasia that can be performed for dogs as young as 12 weeks old! If you are a breeder or own a puppy that is a high-risk breed for hip dysplasia, early detection can be key for prevention of crippling arthritis later in life. Please contact the clinic for further details and to set up an appointment for these specialized radiographs.

Golden Retriever Lifetime Study
The Morris Animal Foundation Golden Retriever Lifetime Study is accepting applications from humans who share their lives with Golden Retrievers. The study looks at how lifestyle, diet, and exercise affect the longevity of this special breed. Applicants are asked to remain in the program for the duration of the dog's life. Benefits include reimbursement for yearly exams, labwork, etc. Please go online at the Morris Animal Foundation to register.
Search under the vet listing and click on our name. The Morris Animal Foundation will then contact us to ensure that your pet qualifies for the study. We look forward to helping your pet live a long, healthy, and happy life.
Your pet’s health is affected by the condition of their teeth and gums. When tartar builds up, bad breath is just one side effect. Tartar can cause an infection that may attack other major organs such as the heart. To make sure your pet lives a long and healthy life, we recommend you have their teeth cleaned at regular intervals, or whenever their teeth need attention.
From January 15 through March, we are offering 10% off on all dental cleanings. This includes blood work, anesthesia, and dental work. We look forward to seeing your pet to help you keep their teeth sparkling, their breath fresh, and their health the very best possible.
